Attorney Martha Croog

Attorney Croog began her legal career in New York City. Admitted to the New York Bar in 1982, she practiced corporate and securities law in two prestigious Park Avenue law firms. In New York, she assisted in the representation of a range of multi-million dollar financings involving the issuance of securities in private placements and public offerings. When she returned to Connecticut in 1990, she continued to practice securities law as counsel for issuers and alternatively underwriters in both private and public offerings, including REITs.

Following admission to the Connecticut bar in 1991, Attorney Croog focused her practice on the representation of secured creditors in the areas of commercial litigation, foreclosure, and bankruptcy law, including municipal tax liens and residential mortgages. As the sole Managing Member of Martha Croog, LLC, Attorney Croog oversaw the operations of the firm, quality control, and attorney practice and performance. For over 30 years, she had devoted her practice to representing the mortgage banking industry in commercial litigation, residential and commercial foreclosures, structuring strategic loss mitigation workouts, bankruptcy litigation, and related state and federal appellate practices. She also represented the firm’s clients in the summary process (REO/eviction).

Attorney Croog was a frequent panelist at Five Star Conferences in Dallas TX and is a contributor to DS News. In addition to regular appearances throughout the country for professional development for her clients, she also appeared as a lecturer and/or moderator at seminars sponsored by the Connecticut Mortgage Bankers Association.

From 2006 to 2010, Attorney Croog was a member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Mortgage Bankers Association. Attorney Croog serves as a member of the CMBA’s Legislative and Loss Mitigation Committees.

Attorney Croog served as Treasurer of the Executive Committee, Business Law Section (1998-2001) of the Connecticut Bar Association and is a member of the Real Estate and Bankruptcy sections of the CBA, the Connecticut Mortgage Bankers Association, and the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, Attorney Croog has published in DS News and the Connecticut Bar Journal and has lectured on behalf of the CMBA, the National Business Institute, the Connecticut Bar Association, Lorman Education Services, and Sterling Education Services.
